procession around town. The cart was decorated with flowers and living angels
and was used to carry the statue of the Madonna in procession. |

Cutting and selling sandstone, an abundant material in the area
used for the construction of building, was another commercial activity
for Capurso in the past. |

La feast was lighted at night with thousands of gas lights affixed to temporary
arches and ornating structures along the streets of the town. In later years the gas
lights were replaced with electric lights, a custom to these days. |
