Uses of the Term |
|
The term stray voltage has been used to describe various phenomena
unrelated to our discussion here. Despite attempts by government agencies
and other institutions to define it, different groups with specific interests
have stretched the term to include stray voltage as experienced by humans,
or stray voltage associated with non-power sources like pipelines, railroads,
telephone systems, or cable networks.
|
Stray voltage could even apply to the shock of static electricity
felt when touching a doorknob after walking across a carpeted room. While
legitimate within other applications, these uses of the term fall outside
the definitions cited in this presentation.
|
This Web site, at the culmination of two decades of debate and research,
is focused on stray voltage from farm and utility power systems and its
effects on cattle.
