Expansion Joints | ||

Expansion joints on mine tailings pipelines allow for movement and expansion in the pipeline. Because they are made of rubber/plastic materials, much like a hose, they also tend to be electrically poor conductors. Installed typically every 2000 ft along a pipeline, they break up the longitudinal electrical continuity of pipelines and act as natural ELF interference mitigation devices. |

Grounding grid being installed under pipelines outside booster pump building. The ground plane formed by the grid minimizes touch voltage problems when unavoidable low level voltages occur on pipelines. |
